Matchlane privacy policy

Last updated: October 19, 2026

This policy explains what data Matchlane (the mobile game, package dev.laneworkstudio.matchlane) collects, why, and how you can control it. Matchlane is made by Lanework Studio ("we", "us"). If you have questions, contact us at [email protected].

The short version: We only want to know how the game is played, so we can fix bugs and make it better. We never sell your data and never use it for anything else. Matchlane has no account system and never asks for your name, email or contact details. Statistics and crash reports are off until you turn them on, and you can turn them off again at any time in Settings → Privacy. We have also switched off the options that would let Google use our statistics for its own purposes.

1. What we use data for

We use data for two things only: understanding how Matchlane is played (so we can balance and improve it) and fixing crashes. We use it in aggregate, as counts and averages across many players, not to follow what any one person does. We don't build profiles of you, we don't combine this data with data from other sources, and we don't sell it or give it to anyone to sell.

Matchlane also shows rewarded video ads, which you choose to watch. Section 4 explains what that involves.

2. Optional data (off until you turn it on)

You choose what to share the first time you open the app. You can change or reset any of these later in Settings → Privacy.

SettingWhat it coversProcessed by
Analytics Gameplay and interaction events, for example a run starting, a tile placed, a menu opened or a setting changed. Events are tied to a random ID for your installation of the app, not to your name, email, Google account or advertising ID. Google Firebase Analytics
Game Improvement Data A more detailed summary at the end of each run, to help balance the game: for example score, rounds survived, play time, lines cleared, boosts used, ads watched and how the run ended. It adds to Analytics, so it can only be turned on while Analytics is on, and turning Analytics off turns it off too. It uses the same random installation ID. Google Firebase Analytics
Crash Reports Technical details about a crash or error: what went wrong, where in the code, and your device model and Android version. Google Firebase Crashlytics
Personalized Ads Whether the ads you choose to watch may be personalized using your device's advertising ID. Turning this off doesn't remove ads or reduce the reward for watching one; the ad is simply not personalized. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, this choice is made in Google's consent form instead of our own (see section 4). Google AdMob

3. Your progress and settings

Your progress (lifetime stats, achievements, unlocked styles and colors, missions and boosts) and your settings are stored in the app's save data on your device. We never receive them, whatever you choose above.

If backup is on in your Android settings, Android also copies them into your device's backup in your Google account, so they come back when you reinstall the game or set up a new phone. Google keeps that backup for you under your account's backup settings; we can't see it. Your privacy choices are left out of the backup, so a reinstalled game asks you again.

4. Data sent without a switch

Google's ad services work even with every setting in section 2 turned off.

Ads and consent (Google AdMob and Google User Messaging Platform)

When the app starts, it contacts Google to find out which privacy rules apply where you are and to get an ad ready. When you watch an ad, Google serves it. Like any website or app that loads an ad, this sends basic technical information to Google: your IP address, device model and Android version, and, depending on your device settings, your device's advertising ID. Google needs this to deliver the ad, limit how often you see it, prevent fraud and count views. We never receive this information ourselves.

Unless you turn on Personalized Ads, every ad request asks Google for a non-personalized ad and for restricted data processing, which limits what Google may do with that data beyond showing the ad. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in your Android settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads on most devices).

5. How we limit what Google can do with your data

We've chosen the most privacy-friendly options Google offers for the services above:

6. Third-party services

These services process data on our behalf, each under its own privacy policy:

If we add another service that processes your data, we'll list it here before the app update that uses it is released.

7. Advertising and consent

Matchlane shows rewarded video ads only: never banners, never interstitials, and never without you choosing to watch one, for example to top up a boost or continue a run. The button that starts an ad always says so. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Google's consent form (IAB TCF v2.2) asks for your choice before any advertising identifier is used for personalization; you can reopen it at any time from Settings → Privacy → Ad privacy choices. Declining never means "no ad available": you'll still be offered a non-personalized ad for the same reward.

8. We don't sell or share your data

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. The only exception is if you turn on Personalized Ads, which lets Google use your advertising ID to choose more relevant ads. That is the "sharing" some US state laws (such as California's CCPA/CPRA) describe, and it's off unless you turn it on.

9. Children's privacy

Matchlane is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us at the address below and we'll delete it.

10. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, to object to its processing, or to withdraw consent (EU/UK GDPR), and to know what's collected and opt out of its sale or sharing (US state privacy laws).

Because Matchlane has no accounts, the quickest way to use most of these rights is in the app. In Settings → Privacy, turning a setting off stops future collection for it, and Reset Consent turns every setting off. Because we never know who you are, we usually can't pick out your data from other players' data, but it is deleted automatically on the schedule in section 11. For anything else, email [email protected] and we'll help where we can.

11. How long data is kept

12. Security

Data sent from the app is encrypted in transit, and we rely on the security practices of the providers listed above. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

13. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If a change affects what the app collects, the app's privacy settings will reflect it too.
